Came to U.S. from Bohemia at the age of 15 to a farm near Abie. Married in 1869 in Abie. They had 12 children. They lived near Abie until 1882 when they purchased a farm south of Brainard. They retired from the farm life in 1918 and moved to Oakes, N.D. to live with their daughters. John died the following year and she moved back to Brainard.
