Born at Frantoly near Prachatice, Bohemia. Ordained at Klagenfurt in Carinthia on June 15, 1889. Came to Saunders County Nebraska on 10/31/1889. Siblings: John born 1860, Vaclav born 1862, Adolph born 1868, Mary C. (Toman) born 1874, Catherine born 1870, died in childhood, Joseph born 1880 and Frances born in 1864 died in infancy. Msgr's father married his first wife Mary Binder in 1850. After she died he married Katerina Stepan in Nov. 1853.
