Crossthwaite, C. O. Home

1904 tax roll lists the owner as C. O. Crossthwaite, Block 4, Lots 8-9-12, Litty's 2nd Addition, value $400. The home, once located on the corner of 8th & I Streets, is not longer there. In the 1930's the Crossthwaite's lived on the southwest corner of 10th & E Streets. Charles O. Crossthwaite, the son of Rev. A. C. Crossthwaite, was born in 1866 and moved to NE from PA in 1878 when his father was appointed minister of David City's Methodist Church. In 1885, Charles (age 18) was appointed bookkeeper of the Farmers & Merchants Bank in David City. When the City National Bank was formed in 1888, Charles was employed there and retired as Vice President after 48 years of banking. Charles married Vessie Davis in 1890 and they lived their lifetimes together in David City.
