Edward Kasparek loved music as a boy. Although Edward was too young to serve in the military, Colonel Colton asked Ed to be a trumpeter for the local group of military volunteers (Company E). When Company E left for the Spanish American War, Edward, who was still too young to be inducted, went with Company E as their volunteer bugler. After the war he spent time with the Campbell Bros.
