E.L. Runyon, Blk 47, Lots 2,3 & 6, Orig. DC, 1904 tax value $200. It is believed that this home sat on the lots across the street from Mrs. L. Runyon. There is a home similar to this that was owned by Edward Runyon that was later moved to the corner of 9th & D Sts. The window placement, porch enclosure, etc., indicate that this could possibly be that home. However, in 1904, Elizabeth Curry was listed as the title holder. Edward L. Runyon came to Butler County at the age of eight with his parents, Edward Stelle Runyon and Lydia Ann Moore. They located on a farm west of David City, but after six years, they moved in to David City. Edward Stelle Runyon was in a real estate partnership with Mr. Bunting. Their office was located in the Bunting building (a bank building and currently Sue's Just a Buck). Edward Stelle Runyon built a house on South 3rd St that was occupied by the late Mr. Julian Buckley. Edward L. Runyon was connected with the newspaper business for many years. He owned and published The People's Banner until 1943.
