Harris, Lewis Home

1904 tax roll lists the owner as Ray M. Harris, Block 2, Lots 7 & 10, Orig. DC, value $280. This home was located on 6th Street between G & H Streets but has been replaced with another home. The home in this photo was occupied by Lewis C. and Fern Wanser Harris. Fern was born in Brainard, NE, Dec. 18, 1887. She graduated from Ulysses High School and received a Bachelor of Elocution in 1910 from Wesleyan University. She married Lewis Harris July 11, 1935, in Osceola, NE. She taught at various school in Butler & Platte Counties and was editor of the Peoples Banner in David City for one year. She also served as Butler Co. Supt. Of Schools, 1922-1930.
