Wolfe, Thomas Home

1904 tax rolls list the owner as Madessa Wolfe (Mrs. Thomas Wolfe), Blk. 7, North 100', Miles 5th Addition, value $660. It is located at the corner of 5th & A Streets. Thomas Wolfe was born in Germany and immigrated to the US at five years of age. He lived in Wisconsin, New York City, Omaha and Seward, NE, before moving to David City in 1877. He married Madessa Guist of Titusville, PA, in 1896. Thomas was an early Butler County settler and president of the First National Bank since its organization. He assisted in establishing the David City public library and served as Mayor of David City for two terms. He died in his home February 10, 1930.
