Born near Edwardsville, IL. Married Christine Klingeman 6-18-1885 in Edwardsville, IL. They moved to NE in the spring of 1892 along with Christine's brother, Henry Klingeman. They rented a railroad boxcar to move their furniture, machinery and horses. They settled on a farm 3 miles north of Ulysses in rural Butler Co. Henry and Christine had 7 children but she died in childbirth 4-11-1897. She and their two young daughters are buried in the Immanuel German Lutheran Cemetery near Ulysses (also known as the Millerton Lutheran Church). Following Christine's death, Henry hired Emma Ladwig to help care for his children and keep house. They married 1-27-1897. Age: 68 years.
