    Born in Luxemburg. Married: 2/11/1874, Lamont, IA. News item from the Bellwood Gazette:
    Peter Phillips, after a short illness, died at the family residence evening last. Funeral was held Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church east of Bellwood, conducted by Father Hoffman. Deceased was aged 55 years and seven months. He was one of the prosperous farmers on the valley and was held in high esteem by all who became aquainted with him. A sorrowing wife and nine children — 4 boys and 5 girls — all of whom deplore the loss of a loving husband and father. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
