Born in NY. Moved with his parents to KS, WI, MO and IA. Civil War Veteran. Enlisted with the Union, Co. B, 29th IA Inf. Came to Butler Co., NE, in the Spring of 1871and shortly married thereafter. He died and is buried in Los Angeles, CA. They had two children who were born and died in Butler Co.; Edna L. and Chester J. There is an infant Stroud buried in the David City Cemetery. At my discretion, I attributed that grave to Edna L., however it could also be that of Chester J.
