    Born in Knox Co., Illinois. Married 6-26-1860. Co. F, 86th Ill Infantry, Civil War Veteran. Served three years in the Union Army. In August, 1867, he homesteaded near Ulysses in rural Butler Co., NE. Elected Sheriff of Butler in 1888 and served one term. His wife died 11-18-1904 and is buried at Fort Collins, Larimer Co., CO. He died at the Soldiers Home in Milford, NE.
