Born near the headwaters of Bear Creek, Jefferson Co., KY. Married William Morris Swan 11-22-1832 in KY. Mother of 11 children. Her father was a veteran of the War of Independence, so Rhoda was a true Daughter of the American Revolution; one of the few buried in the state of NE. She died at the home of her daughter, who lived near Edholm. A bronze plaque was placed on her grave by local DAR members. In October, 1957, members of the David City and Platte DAR chapters held graveside services for her. A granite headstone was placed by the local DAR and a dedication service was held Nov. 20, 1975.
