Married 2/2/1953 in David City. She attended Prescott School for the Deaf in Lincoln and learned to lip read. She began flying lessons; on Nov. 16, 1947, at the age of 16, she became the first and youngest girl in Butler Co. to pilot and solo her airplane, landing in deep snow on skis. In 1967 they adopted a baby girl. They named her Lisa LuRae.
