Born in Cumberland, MD. He came to NE in 1875, settling near Osceola, Polk Co., NE., where he learned the printer's trade. He worked as a printer in Osceola, David City, Columbus and Lincoln, NE., before becoming a member of the editorial staff of the Omaha World Herald in 5-1903. In August, 1915, he was appointed collector of customs and custodian of the federal building in Omaha by President Wilson. Married at David City 12-22-1880.
