Born in Ohio. Came to David City, spring of 1874. Opened a blacksmith shop, northeast corner of 5th & D streets which he sold in 1884. He then returned to Ohio to marry 3-4-1875, returning with his bride. He opened Harper's Mdse. Store with Phillip.
