    Born in Ohio. He served the Union Army,Co. D, Ohio Infantry, in Arkansas and Texas. Last surviving Civil War Veteran in Butler County, Nebraska. Came to Butler County, Nebraska in 1872. Later served as police chief of David City. In 1901, elected County Sheriff and served for 23 years.
