    Born in Ohio. Married Rosanna Bowers in 1853. Civil War Veteran. Enlisted on 8-12-1862 in Co. B 28th Iowa Vol. Inf. As a 3rd Sergeant, promoted to Sergeant and served until l2-13-1863. Discharged due to a disability, mustered out in Helena, AR. Married Nancy Bozarth in 6-21-1863 in Plusaki, Indiana. Came to NE from West Liberty, IA in 1870. In 1878 he sold his farm and moved to David City where he purchased a livery stable business.
