    Born in Lafayette Co., WI. Enlisted in Co. D, 12th WI Vol. Inf, 5-29-1861, Civil War Veteran. Twice wounded, once at the siege of Vicksburg in 1863. Married 4-14-1866 in WI. Moved to Mills Co., IA, in 1875. Moved to Butler Co., NE, in 1885. For eleven years he was a carpenter in Brainard and then operated a grocery store there. In 1900 he retired and moved to David City.
