Age: 93 years. He first homesteaded in Austin County, Texas along the Brazos River near Belville in 1854 and bought 175 acreas in 1857. He fought in the Civil War, for the Confederate Army Home Guard. At some point after the war the family went back to Bohemia. After a few years they came back again to the U.S., first to Spillvile, Iowa and then to Butler County.
