Unidentified Images Collection
We need your help!! Initially there were about 1,000 images that we couldn't identify. Over the past several years, over 200 of those images have been identified. Please take the time to look through the images to see if there is someone you recognize. This collection of unknown images continues to grow as people donate images that they can't identify from their own family photo collections. Look carefully, as they image may be reversed or may be a slightly different pose than a photo you have in your family photos.
You can Browse the Collection by clicking the link below or you can search by: man, men, woman, women, family, group, scene, boy, girl, child, baby, etc. Images may be viewed in a larger size by clicking on the negative number (listed in red to the left of the thumbnail). When the individual's page and image is displayed, click on the thumbnail on the right side of the page. The image will be displayed with a box of arrows in the lower-right. Click on the arrows to display the image in a larger size. Click the "x" in the upper right to close the display box. Use the "back arrow" at the very top of the screen to return to the search results page.
While the bulk of images in the Unknown Gallery were found in the Boston Studio negatives collection, there are also unknown images from other local photographic collections. We have combined them all in this location for ease in viewing and identification.
If you recognize an image, simply click on the "I can Identify this image" text to the right of the thumbnail. A form will be displayed that can easily be filled out and emailed to our office.
